The challenge
With around 500 user accounts and an IT landscape built largely around Microsoft 365, email and collaboration services such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive are becoming increasingly important. At the same time, the requirements for securing these services continue to grow.
Frutura therefore wanted to enhance its existing security solution to provide users with even better protection against phishing attacks, malware, malicious links and compromised user accounts. In addition, the scope of protection needed to extend beyond email to all relevant Microsoft 365 collaboration services – with an integrated, scalable solution that could be seamlessly incorporated into the existing infrastructure.
The solution
Together with Frutura, Bacher Systems implemented Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration Advanced. The solution adds an additional layer of protection to the existing Microsoft 365 security architecture, covering both email and collaboration services.
In addition to protection against phishing, malware and malicious URLs, the solution focuses on detecting compromised user accounts and securing Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. DMARC and SPF management were also introduced to help ensure email authenticity and further reduce the risk of email spoofing.
Bacher Systems not only handled the technical implementation, but also worked with Frutura to develop an overall approach covering security architecture, the operating model and ongoing support.
The Implementation
Phased rollout without disrupting operations
The solution was initially introduced as part of a proof of concept within Frutura’s existing Microsoft 365 environment. Following the technical integration and configuration of the core security policies, the solution was first operated in Detect Mode. This made it possible to analyse threats transparently and evaluate the protection mechanisms under real-world conditions.
Prevent Mode was then activated gradually, first for individual user groups and ultimately across the entire organisation. Workshops and knowledge transfer enabled the IT team to efficiently take over administration, reporting and ongoing operations.
The result
Today, Frutura has a comprehensive security solution for its Microsoft 365 environment. Email and collaboration services are protected across the organisation, while IT and security teams benefit from greater visibility, centralised reporting and a significantly reduced security risk.
Thanks to the structured rollout and ongoing support from Bacher Systems, the solution was implemented efficiently and successfully integrated into day-to-day operations for the long term.
